1 Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering CEE 5734 – Urban Hydrology and Stormwater Management Homework #9: Mechanics of Continuous Streamflow Modeling with SWMM Due: April 6, 2011 (yellow shows revisions) This homework will serve as an introduction to continuous streamflow modeling with the EPA SWMM model. The emphasis here is not on model calibration. Instead, the emphasis is on “mechanics”. This includes obtaining the appropriate files (precipitation, streamflow, etc.) to support the analysis, gaining experience with the “aquifer” object, exporting simulation results from SWMM, and calculating various goodness-of-fit measurements. Tasks: 1. Obtain streamflow data for USGS 02055100 TINKER CREEK NEAR DALEVILLE, VA for water-year 2008 (October 1, 2008 – September 30, 2009) from the USGS daily flow data web site. 2. Obtain hourly precipitation data for Roanoke International Airport (Coop ID: 447285) from the NCDC web site for the same period as in Task 1. 3.
