2 Solution to Homework Set 1. Problem 1.3. A crank-rocker linkage has a 100 mm frame, a 25 mm crank, a 90 mm coupler, and a 75 mm rocker. Draw the linkage and find the maximum and minimum values of the transmission angle. Locate both toggle positions and record the corresponding crank angles and transmission angles. Solution. The two extreme positions of the crank-rocker linkage occur when link 2 is either fully extended from the ground link or folded on top of the ground link, see Figures 1a and 1b. The minimum transmission angle is shown in Figure 1a and the maximum transmission angle is shown in Figure 1b. Figure 1a. First extreme position of the crank-rocker linkage. Figure 1a. Second extreme position of the crank-rocker linkage.
