1 ME 560 Kinematics Fall Semester 2010 Homework No. 10 Wednesday, December 1st This homework set is based on Chapter 10, Synthesis of Linkages, see Sections 10.1 to 10.11, pages 418 - 454. Problem 1. Figure 1 shows the pole triangle for a rigid body moving through three finitely separated positions. The figure also shows the line g fixed in the body in position 1. (i) Show the location of this line in position 2 and in position 3. (ii) Draw the single cylinder that can be used to rotate the line. Clearly show the location of the center of this cylinder and specify the diameter of this cylinder. Check your answers by using two arbitrary points, say points 11 D and E , on the line 1 g . (iii) Draw the circumscribing circle and the reflections of the circumscribing circle. (iv) Locate the orthocenter. Draw the reflections of the orthocenter.
