1 ME 560 KINEMATICS Fall Semester 2010 Prerequisite : ME 352 Machine Design I, or an equivalent Junior-level mechanism design course. Lectures : Monday, Wednesday, and Friday: 8:30 am - 9:20 am. Required Text For the Course: Theory of Machines and Mechanisms, Fourth Edition. Uicker, J.J., Jr., Pennock, G.R., and Shigley, J.E. Oxford University Press, Inc., 2011. Reference Texts : 1. Kinematics and Linkage Design Hall, A. S., Jr. Waveland Press, 1986. 2. Kinematic Synthesis of Linkages Hartenberg, R.S., and Denavit, J. McGraw-Hill Book Co., 1964. 3. Kinematics and Mechanisms Design Suh, C.H., and Radcliffe, C.W. John Wiley & Sons, 1978. Grading Policy : Four Class Tests (Weeks 3, 6, 10 and 13) 50% (Problems will be based on the homework assignments) Two or three Projects will be assigned this semester 10% Midterm Exam (take home exam – honor system) 20% Final Exam (proctored) 20% Homework Assignments (not collected): Most problems are taken from Uicker, et al., 2011.
