1 Logic and Reasoning PHIL 102 (BL1, 51412) 22 Aug 2011 Lecturer: Dr Sorin Bangu TAs: John Craw Zach Horne 1 Lecturer : Dr Sorin Bangu [email protected] Lectures: Mo., Wed. 12-12.50 Rm 150 Animal Sciences Lab Office hours: Wed 3-4:50 200A Gregory Hall 2 Discussions sections FRIDAY Zach Horne John Craw - Make sure you find out what section you are assigned to! 3 Grading h 3 in-class tests (45 min) = 30% h 1 essay (1000) = 30% h Participation in Friday discussions (questions, interventions during the lecture are encouraged) = 10% Evaluation: ‘best 2 / 3 tests + essay + participation – absences’ Homework will be assigned after each lecture, but will not be graded (discussion of it on Friday is encouraged). 4 Attendance h 8 allowed absences (‘don’t ask, don’t tell’), 5 from the lecture, 3 from the section. h Each additional abs. = 3% off the final grade. h Exceptions: documented emergencies doctor’s note, etc. 5 Dates s First test (midterm): Sept 28 s Second test: Oct 26 s Third test: Dec 7 s Essay due: Nov 28 See the enrollment / drop dates on the Univ. website.
