Objective In this experiment, we used direct measurement method with using thermocouples at high temperatures. Apparatus 1. Vertical tube furnace 2. Thermocouple calibration cell 3. Thermocouple 4. Potentiometer 5. Mercury in glass thermometer Sample Used Tin (Sn) used as a sample Summary Temperature measurement has great role in industry. This method must have three main features: a. accuracy and speed which required by the application b. acceptable initial investment c. low maintenance cost which implies long life and stability of calibration Two different methods are used in temperature measurements that are direct with thermometers, thermocouples, resistance wire thermometers and indirect such as optical methods. Thermocouple technique system has two different composition homogenous metal wires which fused or welded together at one end (which called hot junction) form a closed
