The chapter 3 reading this week from the, “Queer Twin Cities,” through archival sources and oral history, examines how nonnormative sexual and gender expressions were stigmatized through state sanctioned policing and repression. Examples are given to explain how the state, aided by dominant culture, antagonized the nonheteronormative social formations that were partly formed in protest against blatant discrimination and isolation.
