ASSIGNMENT 01 Student no:48454699 Name and surname :Lebognag Mashaba Closing date: 23 March Unique number: 682401 QUESTION 1 • historical evidence and historical sources: Historical evidence is used to compile or to construct a picture of the things of history or the past. Any evidence or leftover of the past can be treated or considered as a source and the term source gives us information from select evidence. The source become evidence if is used to answer question about things of the past, like for an example the name of SOWETO. The history tells us that Soweto was created in the 1930s when the White government started separating Blacks from Whites. This would be evidence to answer the question about the naming of the township of Soweto. Historians find some source usefully to help to learn about the past such how the name of Soweto was found or created and its meaning (South West Townships). This information about Soweto is kept as a source for historian to use in future. Another example the bible tells people that Jesus is the Son of God and that he is the true and the only way to get to God. This historical evidence of Jesus of Nazareth is both long established and widespread by his followers in the whole world. There are two classes or categories of sources which is primary and secondary sources, these two classes give us enough information about the importance of historical sources. We can findSources in the walls, artifacts, books, documents, film, people, photographs, recordings, websites, databases, and magazines. Evidence is how we interpreted the information that is relevant to the problem that we are researching or the information that we are looking for from the sources. If the evidence explicitly addresses our problem and challenges , the evidence obtained can lead us to the truth or may not, we still need to support it with other evidence, such as used other recourses that are available to help to get to the truth of the matter . If our evidence is in some way relevant to our problem but it does not explicitly state a solution, then we haveindirectevidence to complete the task and, in that scenario, we can combine the two or more evidence to build a case.
