Joe Littman 11-3-2011 Short Writing Assignment 3 Our play centers around Meghan, the female lead who goes through a dynamic character change from essentially bad to good. This center conflict makes our play a melodrama. Which is a play that causes the audience to feel emotion and features a battle between virtuous and evil, which features a two-dimensional character that's puts on a spectacle and ends happily. Multiple fights between Meghan and her husband John, eventually expose the faults of their marriage and begins to change the way Meghan views their relationship. This eventually drives Meghan to become an extreme two-sided character. The fights climax, and Meghan gets out of the destructive marriage and the play ends with her happily enjoying coffee, as a changed character, no longer in the harmful relationship. The inciting action in our play was multiple fights between Meghan and her husband John,

This part of our play features a happy ending that evolved from a conflict that encouraged empathy from the audience. Our target audience was college students who are beginning to enter potentially serious relationships. We could have also showed a tragedy that ended badly for the female character that entered into a bad relationship for the wrong reasons. Having our play end sadly may have had an even more profound effect on our audience and driven them away from relationships that are based on things like money....
