INTRO PHOTO 1/3 Rutgers University Newark Campus   SPRING 2010 Professor Sandy Skoglund e-mail:  [email protected] or [email protected],rutgers.edu PAGE 1 of 3 SYLLABUS: INTRODUCTION TO PHOTOGRAPHY   21: 080: 261 sec 03   This is a basic course dealing with the fundamental principles of photography.  This is an art course (080) in which photography will be treated as a medium expression. Within that  context, we will study techniques that will help the student achieve his or her creative goal. Students  will learn: Basics of the camera as an image-making tool. An introduction to visual thinking as it pertains to photographs. How to maximize the use of consumer digital cameras in order to expand creativity. The projects and prints that students make will be primarily digital in order to remain current with  the rapid changes in the photography medium over the last five years. CLASSROOMS: Bradley Hall 427 4 th  floor computer labs There will be NO CLASS meeting on the third day of class, FEB. 4.  Class will resume as usual on February 11 in our classroom 427 Bradley. CLASS TIME:  We are scheduled to meet for a six hour studio workshop period starting at 8:30. The  class format will be demonstration of material in the beginning of the class period, after which  students will work on their own to complete projects. Each class period, the student can expect that  they will be shooting pictures and making prints. Students will work at their own pace, either in groups
