Running head: Module 6 Assignment
External and Internal pressures on supply chain design chains for colour
wonders and washable deluxe painting kit.
The external supply chain refers to the network of activities outside of a company such as
transportation, and the environmental factors, which can have a direct or indirect effect on
operations e.g. supplier failure, changes in laws and natural disasters (Radford,2017). On the
other hand, the internal supply chain refers to the chain of activities within a company,
specifically, purchasing, production, sales and distribution. The internal supply chain has a
significant impact on a company’s success; operations need to run smoothly to create a
harmonized working environment and an efficient workflow.
Supply Chain management is a very important aspect within the business operation to
make sure that the company can operate and meet the marketing demands. It is also important
to consider that through the use of an efficient supply chain management a company can get
raw materials from suppliers and render the finished goods to the customers.
Crayola which is one of the world’s top leading company in the manufacturing of colours
and paints for school children worldwide produces the top-quality products which are
delivered at the right time and place, this is a key success of the company.
The demand for Crayola products has been growing mostly in the Asian zone, and this has
become a big challenge for the company to meet the demands given its available resources
Crayola has both internal and external elements which affect its supply chain design for its
expansion into the Chinese market.
External pressures are created through external forces which have an adequate amount of
pressure created through the suppliers and others, while internal pressure can be created by
management itself to construct a prominent supply chain design.
