Hello Dr. Streeter and Classmates,the three key points that I have taken from this class are the following:1-Literacy is only one part of early childhood development, but often it’s the barometer for the other areas of development. The goal for language and literacy instruction is for teachers to integrate the early literacy skills into Interventions: the instructional practices, methods, strategies, approaches, and programs used by educators and parents to mediate learning Early literacy skills linked to later conventional literacy outcomes:2-Reading aloud and its follow-up conversation allows teachers the opportunity to help students increase vocabulary, create a shared literary experience, evoke discussion, and model fluency (Kim, 2015). Many children benefit from reading aloud to reinforce language and concept development, and to work on book handling skills. This allows students to pick up on the different sound’s letters make, as well as how words are broken down into syllables. (Reading Rockets, 2020). 3-We should expose the child to reading and writing within the daily routine by including the child in the process of reading and writing lists, directions, recipes, menus, messages or letters to friends and family, and any other activities that occur within routine activities.I believe everything I studied in this course is clear now looking forward to learning more in the future in other courses.
