Modifying Lesson Plan Section 1: Lesson Preparation Teacher Candidate Name: Ms. Lope Grade Level: 2 nd Grade Date: 8-12-2020 Unit/Subject: English Language Arts (ELA) Instructional Plan Title: Long and short vowel /e/ sounds Lesson Summary and Focus: The lesson focuses on the long and short vowel /e/ sounds that are identified by SWBAT with one-syllable words. The lesson is reading a small paragraph with the target sounds. Then placing eight words into groups based on if the vowel /e/ sounds is long or short. Classroom and Student Factors/Grouping: Marcus has an IEP for a SLD, he currently reads and comprehends at a first-grade level, when he reads by himself. Though when read to, he is at grade level. Wirth regard to ELA, his IEP comprises of comprehension, written expression, and fluency. National/State Learning Standards: California State Standard RF.2.3, Know and apply grade-level phonics and word analysis skills in decoding words. Distinguish long and short vowels when reading regularly spelled one- syllable words. Know spelling-sound correspondences for additional common vowel teams. Decode regularly spelled two-syllable words with long vowels. Decode words with common prefixes and suffixes. Identify words with inconsistent but common spelling-sound correspondences.
