Lindsey Faucher FSW 281- March 18, 2010 Facility Paper Early care facilities are so important to the development and growth of children in our communities. 3The early care facility I decided to go visit is called the Gorton Children’s Early Drop-In Center, which is located in my hometown of Lake Forest, Illinois. It may not seem like much, since it’s main purpose is to be a daycare center where parents can drop off their children during the day, but there is much more to it than meets the eye. The center is open from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Friday, which makes it very convenient for parents to drop off their children when they have errands to run or other things to accomplish. The Drop-In Center provides an informal daily program that includes indoor free play with developmentally appropriate toys, small group and large group activities, creative art projects, outdoor play, snack time, language activities, and music and movement activities. The Gorton Children’s Drop-In Center is supported by funds that are raised through the Gorton’s Children’s Drop-In Center Parent Board. This board consists of a group of parents who
