Background Information Thesis: The Miami University dining halls reinforce the segregation between athletes and members of Greek life as well as other sectors of college life such as student night life and off-campus housing. Observers: Miami University seniors Used to eat in dining halls freshman and sophomore year but no longer do because live off campus Members of sororities We will be comparing and contrasting the “athlete” dining hall compared to the “sorority” dining hall and the implications these dining halls have on the university as a whole.

Pass down houses In Conclusion • Segregation begins freshman year with the dining hall experience • Miami places students on certain quads based on their interests • Problematic because it does not prepare students for the diversity of the “real world.” • Miami University should randomly place incoming freshman on quads, not based on interests, in order to create a more tolerated and integrated university....
