Ashley D’AngeloUniversity SuccessFebruary 25, 2018Brett BergerPlagiarismPlagiarism is when a person attempts to use to work or words of another person as their own without giving the proper credit to the writer or speaker. Plagiarism can often be unintentional if a person does not properly cite their information when writing a paper or essay. However, some people plagiarize information because they simply do not want to take the time to learn the information on their own and write their own opinions on their learnings. I find that plagiarism is most common in research papers. This is because research papers require using the knowledge of others and often requires quoted information. If a person is not careful to quote this information correctly in these papers then it can be portrayed as academic dishonesty or cheating. It is always better to try not to use large amounts of quoted material when writing a paper.
