Unformatted text preview: Marquis de Lafayette - Marquis de Lafayette served in the aid of George Washington during the Revolutionary War, and gained wide esteem for his heroism. He later played an instrumental role both in the French Revolution and the eventual restoration of the monarchy. In addition to being a close friend of Jefferson's in both America and France, he is noted for his tricolor design on the French flag. Richard Henry Lee - Richard Henry Lee was a longtime member of the House of Burgesses who played a key role in initiating the composition of the Declaration of Independence at the Second Continental Congress. He later opposed the Constitution, but was instrumental in establishing the Bill of Rights.
