Department of Chemical Engineering University of California, Santa Barbara ChE 210C Spring 2008 Instructor: Glenn Fredrickson TERM PROJECT Due on: Thursday, June 5, 2008 Your grade in this course will be partly determined by your performance on bi- weekly homework assignments (50%). In addition, 50% of the grade will be based on a term project described below. The assignment is to select a fluid system for study that is relevant to your par- ticular research, or that is of interest to you for some other reason. The system can be either a simple atomic or molecular fluid, or a complex fluid such as a polymer solution, melt, colloidal suspension, or liquid crystal. The only constraint is that your choice should not be a system that you have already studied as part of your thesis research. Please contact the instructor for approval of your topic before you go any further. Having selected a system for study, you are asked to do the following: 1. Develop an appropriate mathematical model for the dynamics of the system
