The advantage of having an employer draw attention to situations where employees use some of their work time to do non-job-related activities is employees become more conscious of using their time properly on the job. As a result, an employee will think twice before using their time on the job to complete unrelated tasks because they know their employer is aware. The disadvantage is that the employer doing is that the employer has to play the role of ethical police. This means that the employees will rely on the employer to point out the fact that they are doing something questionable when they use their time for non-job- related activities. Stealing is usually a term that denotes serious repercussions if caught. Therefore, labeling this employee behavior as stealing time would help to raise people’s consciousness of the seriousness of the problem. 2. If employers focused only on the results and were indifferent to how employees used their time to obtain results, employees would be come less efficient.
