Consider the following schematic model…which depicts a crane being used to lift a
weight:
This crane structure has five beam elements (i.e., 1, 2, 3, 4, and 5) three forces which
hold this crane in place (i.e., R1, R2, and R3), and one load at the tip of the crane (i.e., F).

Draw an estimate of the horizontal and vertical loads at each point (i.e., a node) where
two or more beams come together (e.g., there is one such node where beams 1 and 2 link,
there is one such node where beams 1, 3, and 4 come together, etc.)
