Electrons travel in well-defined paths around the nucleus 2. Electrons want to be as close to the nucleus as possible 3. There is a limit to how many electrons can occupy an energy level 4. Energy levels further away from the nucleus have more energy. How many electrons can each energy level hold? 1 st Energy Level = 2 electrons 2 nd Energy Level = 8 electrons 3 rd Energy Level = 18 electrons 4 th Energy Level = 32 electrons Practice: Draw the Bohr model for F, Al and Ca. Write the electron configuration for each.
