November 3, 2011 ECEN 325 Homework #7 Due: 11-15-2011, 8:00AM Homework will not be received after due date. Instructor: Sam Palermo 1. (60 points – 40pts design plots/calc., 20points PSpice) Design a single-stage amplifier with the NPN 2222-type transistor to satisfy the following constraints. |A V | ≥ | -8| R in ≥ 200kΩ R out ≤ 3 0k v omax = 20mV pk with harmonic distortion below -30dB V CC = 5V Assume that the load impedance is 200k Ω, and the maximum input signal is 2.5mV pk (5mV pp ). Note, for the relatively low I C necessary to meet the R in spec the transistor will have a Beta near 110 . Use the graphical design approach outlined in the notes. On one graph , plot 5 curves which capture the following constraints. Negative v omax Swing and R in constraints Positive v omax Swing constraint A V and R in constraint v omax harmonic distortion constraint R out constraint Color in the design space area and choose an acceptable design point.
