Isotopes form when neutrons differ. Elements are made up of the same type of atoms. An isotope is an atom with a different # of neutrons. An ion is an atom with diff. # of electrons. A diff. element is if there is diff. # of protons. Chemical compounds form when two or more elements are chemically combined in definite proportions. Ionic bonds are formed when electrons are transferred from atom to atom. A covalent bond is when electrons are shared. A molecule is formed when atoms are joined together by covalent bonds. Cohesion is attraction between molecules of the same substance, adhesion between molecules of different substances.
