Based on the brief summary of feminism, gender, and sexuality in Stone, give an example of how one of these issues is expressed in music that you are familiar with. If you were a researcher in ethnomusicology, how do you think your gender or sexuality might affect your fieldwork? In DMX’s, Where Da Hood At, he says “I show no love to homo thugs”. Here is expressing his hatred for gay men. If I were a researcher in ethnomusicology, and I were a gay man, I would feel very offended by these lyrics and in turn, my fieldwork would reflect negatively on DMX. 2. Explain Robertson’s assumptions about the relationship of gender, social power, and performance and give an example in a music-making context.
