Rasmussen 1 Drew Rasmussen Penny Louka Biology 191 Lab November 8, 2010 Testing for a hypothesis involving two variables requires multiple treatments to be set up to evaluate each variable individually. By using different volumes of a vermiculite and flour mixture we were able to achieve results that tested for both food and space as our variables. The procedures for setting this up are as follows. Five half pint wide mouth jars were used, and each one was labeled as Treatment A-E. Each jar then had a specific amount of flour added (and some of the jars had vermiculite added to increase living space for the beetles). Treatment A had 3 grams of flour added, B had 10 grams of flour added, and C had 50 grams of flour added. Jars D and E had both flour and vermiculite added (these will be the jars that test for space due to the increased living area created by the vermiculite). Jar D was filled with 10g of flour and enough vermiculite to bring it to the same volume as Jar C with 50g of flour.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
