Indicators of lying (stereotypes); Smiling (people think this, but it is actually untrue) Less eye-gaze – “Dance of the eyes” Shrugging Head movement Postural shifts Talking faster Response- Answer quickly when lying or take to long to answer when lying * Sometimes stereotypes are opposite of real life Research ; * Research is inconsistent Eyes ; Multiple studies suggest pupil dilation has a correlation with lying People blink more when they are lying Tone ; Higher vocal pitch when lying More speech disturbances (errors) Shorter answers People have less pleasant facial expressions while lying Actions ; More adaptors used Fewer hand gestures *If you put all the said indicators from research together, you can see why it is hard to detect deception. -When you can tell someone doesn’t believe you, you get more nervous and talk faster,
