Homwork #3 Due 12/1/11 PSY 231 Brown When I am 70+ years old, I hope to be happy and look back on my life with joy. I think the most important way to ensure I feel this way later in life is to make healthy and smart choices for myself today and everyday. Engaging in harmful behaviors, such as smoking, overeating, lack of exercise, etc. is very dangerous for your health. If I want to be healthy when I have grandchildren, then I know it all starts with my actions today. Preparing healthy meals with plenty of protein, calcium, and vitamins is crucial. It is easier for the elderly to buy pre-made food or go out to eat, but then they are not in control of their nutrition and health. As I age, I will be more aware of any health issues I have, possibly diabetes or high cholesterol, and then I will be able to properly nourish myself. The book states that social support increases the odds of living longer. Having a group of friends to spend time with is important for happiness and social stimulation.
