Detroit Free Press: The Common Grill – Chelsea, MI While my parents were in town for University of Michigan’s annual Parent’s Weekend, my dad thought it would be more adventurous of us to try a restaurant for dinner that wasn’t located on Main Street in Ann Arbor. While my dad was flipping through a local restaurant book in our hotel room, he came across The Common Grill, which he also had been recommended to by a friend. When calling to make a reservation, the hostess explained they only take reservations for parties of six or more, but he could put his name on the “call ahead list” and upon walking in, our wait time would be cut in half. Upon arriving at The Common Grill, my mom, dad, and I sat at the bar as we waited for our table to be ready. I noticed that I was possibly the only customer under thirty years old. It made me feel uncomfortable, but also mature. A young and lively waitress quickly approached us and took our drink order. She quickly returned with a Chardonnay, a San Pellegrino water, and a diet root beer on a brown tray. Peering over the bar’s countertop, thousands of colorful bottles with different colored liquids inside surrounded the inside of the bar. Looking through the bar, and into the kitchen, the waiters and waitresses scurried about. An endless amount of bread was being baked fresh from an oven, and the waiters quickly wrapped it up in bowls with
