Nothing can truly prepare you for leadership, but leadership itself. All of the training and advice given from wise sources is helpful, but at the end of the day, it is up to you what you put into practice. As a freshman in the Howard University School of Business, I knew I wanted to become the best leader I could be and the best possible way for me to achieve that goal was to become a Management Team Leader. Luckily, I was blessed with an excellent corporate sponsor my freshman year, ConocoPhillips. After spending a wonderful, eventful, and educational year under their wing, I was truly honored to learn that I had been selected as the Management Team Leader for their second-ever adopted 21 CAP team. Now, I had a team of my own to manage, with the same letter and number, Team 1A, but a different identity all together. I was excited to continue the legacy and to see what more we could bring to the table for the program and our sponsor.
