Chapter 5: Electronic Commerce: What are common applications for e-business and e-commerce?   a means to transact  business communications and transactions such a purchasing and  invoicing via computers (B2C, B2B, C2C) What is a TPS(Transaction Processing System)?  the basic series of computer  programs used by most businesses. These systems provide the basic data  to transact business ( payroll/invoicing/ordering/shipping/inventory/general  ledger systems ) What does a TPS do for an organization?  provides info to all the other systems used  by business to make decisions such at MIS, DSS, and Expert Systems What is an electronic exchange?   an electronic forum where manufacturers,  suppliers, and competitors buy and sell goods, trade market info, and run  back-office operations What is an ERP(Enterprise Resource Planning)?   a set of highly integrated systems  that help monitor, track and assist in decision making. All phases of an  organization communicate w/ one system that gathers a consistent set of  data B2B, B2C, C2C, examples of each   Business to Consumer-customers deal directly  w/ a firm, avoiding intermediaries such as retail stores. Business to  Business-customers interact w/ each other electronically. Consumer to  Consumer-customers may be both buyers and sellers (eBay) Where does a supply chain fit into the concept of electronic commerce?   opportunity  for business to increase profitability by employing electronically 3 sub  processes (Demand Planning, Supply Planning, Demand Fulfillment)
