Notes night Amit Patel p6 11/3/11 Ch 3 -gets to Auschwitz -separated from mother and little sister -last time they get killed -man warns elie and father to lie about age -men go through selection -elie and father both good -Mengele there -elie lies says he is farmer probably saves his life -they march towards crematory but at last second turn away -Elie all prepared for death but now he is inspired to try and survive -get to barracks -is hellish brutal they forced to lose clothes -men are chosen for sunder kommando -hair cut wander in crowd find each other people in the group they know lots of crying and then they had to run -soon author loses all feeling -sees all of mankind as just wandering earth waiting to die -next morning they are bathed in petrol and hot water and given clothes -switch for right sizes -all seems like a dream no idea how much time has passed - they go to a new barracks gypsy's camp -mud floors and speech about sufferin in a camp from SS -choices are the furnace or to work all skilled workers separated and sen away and then gypsy
