Nancy Crawley Marketing Case Study 3 Geek Squad The Geek Squad was begun with Stephens, who is from Chicago Illinois. As a young man he passed up the opportunity to go to school for an art scholarship. Instead he decided to pursue a degree in computer science. He learned to become very skilled at repairing many different things and through his experiences he realized most people needed help with all typed of technology and they would pay people to help them out, so in 1994 he formed the Geek Squad with $200. There were various key factors that led to help create an opportunity for Robert Stephens to start the Geek Squad. A few examples would be: new technology people need to learn how to use, technology viruses, maintenance, change in social factors such as demographics and culture, competition, economics, and regulatory environments. New technology really helped form Geek Squad, because most people are not great with technology so many people needed help in order to understand how to use or set up something.
