Nancy Crawley Marketing Case 2 BP was formally known as British Petroleum. It was and is one of the world’s largest producers and marketers of petroleum products. BP is very good at marketing its products, and through this they have transformed themselves into a consumer-centric provider of energy products and services that are broader than just oil and gas. The strategy of BP is to have such a well known name that anyone will want to come to buy their supplies or products. For example, BP wants to get people to drive and extra mile or block and get customers to cut across a line of traffic just to get gas or products from BP. They build a trust worthy company that people feel comfortable with. This strategy relates to BP’s mission statement and core values because BP is wanting to appear trustworthy and through finding, producing, and marketing natural energy resources, they will be more likely to gain their customer’s trust. SWOT is a commonly used abbreviation in the business world.
