Nancy Crawley 11-3-09 The five job needs that are important to me are: physiological, safety, social, esteem, and self-actualization needs. In my opinion these are the most important needs an employee needs to have met, because they take care of all their basic needs. I feel that Herzberg’s Motivation- Hygiene Theory is the best theory that would fulfill these five basic needs. I came to these conclusions about the needs I felt would be best for me, by reading the passage in the book about Maslow’s Hierarchy of Needs. For example, the most basic level need is physiological need. Our physiological needs are things that we require to survive. Examples of these types of needs are food, water, clothing, shelter, and sleep. In the employment context, these needs usually are satisfied through adequate wages. The physiological need is important to me, because if I am an employee at a business I would feel much more motivated if I had a manager who cared enough to meet my physiological needs. The next need that I feel is an important one is safety needs.
