Nancy Crawley October 14, 2009 MWF Ch. 7 1. Organization charts create a picture of an organization by representing the positions and relationships within an organization. 2. The chain of command in an organization is the line of authority that extends from the highest to the lowest levels of the organization. 3. The degree of specialization within an organization is determined by the number of employees and the number of jobs that need to be done in an organization. 4. Job rotation can be used to combat the problems caused by jobs specialization, because in job specialization someone works one job and may become bored with doing the same thing over and over. Job rotation helps with this, because the employs can rotate jobs every so often so he will not get bored doing the same thing over and over again. 5. The four major differences among the four departmentalization bases are: 1) function, 2) product, 3) location, and 4) customer. 6. There are three steps involved in delegation. The first step is the manager assigning responsibility. Responsibility is the duty to do a job or perform a task. Second, the manager must grant authority. Authority is the power, within the organization to
