Kamal Patel Professional Communications, Bryant Persuasive Speech Changing the NBA age and college requirement The current National Basketball Association rule on incoming players is outrageous. The NBA is limiting players and risking their future by limiting them. Currently, the rule is that incoming players must be 18 and be in college from at least one year. I propose we get rid of the year in college and lower the age to 17. Players should only have graduate from high school. Current high school players who are already good enough to play in the NBA shouldn’t be forced to go to college. The NBA say going to college will help them become a better player and being in school is a plus. However, wouldn’t an extra year in the NBA instead of college, with inferior competition, make a player better? Also, players in college only have to maintain two D’s out of three classes in order to stay eligible to play in college; so obviously no player who is going to the NBA is going to take school seriously. So therefore, the year in college is not
