I think there is a need for such initiatives like the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) to settle and identify problems confronting nations of the world. In this way, they are easily addressed especially with the case of the MDGs as it is a global effort plus funding coming from the United Nations. Also, to reach a consensus among nations on their definition of development and human rights. With a target set, nations do not confuse themselves plus it gives them a specific set of steps to take in achieving the proposed targets. 2. Trickle-down economics is when tax breaks are given to the rich and big corporations during recessions with the hopes that the money supposed to be taxed from them will go to investments which supposedly in turn benefit the poor through jobs creation and industry and economy revitalization. In this sense, the rich, who are even better-off to pay taxes, are given lower taxes to pay to government benefiting them in the short-run through their savings from
