I would not say that just because a company put out a new product that it would cannibalize the existing product line. My reasoning behind this statement is that there is a global market out there with millions of consumers who tastes varies. Let me give you an example. The iphone 4s might seem to cannibalize all other iphones, but it has not. The cheaper iphone 3 is still selling well, because not all people need to newest technology. So, what appears to be cannibalizing is actually profitable. What are the four stages of the product life cycle? How does product life cycle stage impact marketing strategy? The four stages of a product life cycle are: introduction, growth, maturity and decline. Becoming familiar with a product’s life cycle helps a marketer plan effectively.
