ENGL 134-Section 17 January 10, 2010 Perfect Pete In my opinion, I was never a good writer. I was never good at writing essays, research papers, reports, or even a simple paragraph. I would still complete every assignment given otherwise I would not be sitting here in college. However, I would receive an average grade just for the effort of trying. My perception of “good” in this context is having the ability to construct a well-organized, an appealing, coherent, and fluent paper without the long hours of struggle. Time after time of working on a paper, I would endure long hours of scribble, rewrite, rewrite again, and plain frustration. I consistently had “writer’s block” and even if I thought of something, it would never be good enough. This whole idea of writing was just not cut out for me, until my junior year in high school. This was when my writing began to change. This agonizing process of writing began after I received my essay back from my sophomore year English teacher, Mrs. Zuk, with a big fat “D” plastered in red. This simple letter grade lowered my self-confidence in writing and from then on, I became cautious when writing
