Global Water's Founder and CEO: Trevor Hill. He gave an hour and a half talk about how it started and how he got it to where it is today. Water scarcity management. He bought utilities that recycled dirty water for drinking and plumbing, ect. They were called Waste Water Treatment Centers. Basically, there are a lot of water companies out there. Most are city-owned (municipal), and some are private. There are 50,000 water companies. Trevor explains that there are 3 drivers for this business: 1. Water scarcity 2. Growth 3. Regulation (like electricity, water has gov't regulation too) 4. Distress (because of economy) *most municipal water companies are screwed because of budget but won't feel the pain until later. Anywho, Arizona is the epicenter of the above drivers. Global Water grew 2 ways: 1. Organically 2. Through acquisition Most water companies (especially city-owned) are very risk adverse and they lack IT. Trevor says that companies are either growing or dying.
