Pham Kaitlin Pham Professor Preston English 134 4 November 2010 Fresh Voices Response 3 Trevor Brumm was a seemingly normal child, but deep inside he was different than everyone else perceived. He knew early on that he was different from all other boys, and wasn’t sure if his friends and family would accept him. However, with his story of internal struggle, you can see the journey of Brumm’s growth in self confidence and as an amazing human being. Trevor supports his decision coming out by saying, “Coming out of the closet has been a life changing experience for me. After years of hiding who I really was, I finally feel comfortable in my own skin.” The short story “My Coming Out Story” was a pleasure to read, and it encourages all readers to be true to themselves and be their own person. Brumm’s quick realization of his difference left him with baggage he left hidden from everyone he encountered. He never came out to his parents or friends, and he notes that his high school experience was not as fun as it could have been because of his secret. He spent most of
