Kaitlin Pham (Loser Face) 1 March 2011 Erma Stauffer COMS 102 Spanking: Effective if Used Properly 1. Anecdote: The year was 1997, I had just finished watching Hey Arnold, and the family party was in full blast. I was sitting on the first step of the pool, hungry, and was declined food. I muttered “fine”, and was accused of saying a word I had never heard before. My mother grabbed my ear, brought me to an empty room, and demanded me to tell her where I heard that word. “What word?” “The F word” 10 minutes and a sore behind later, I learned that the so called F word was bad. 2. Young children should be physically disciplined in early childhood, in small forms of occasional spanking. 3. Spanking is a controversial topic for new parents deciding whether or not they should or shouldn’t spank their children. 1. People have been disciplined for years, including myself, and have all turned out well. History speaks for itself 1. "spare the rod and spoil the child." Corporal punishment was practiced in many
