Renting Versus Buying a Home Jeff Ice Com156 The choice between renting and buying a home in today’s economy is one that many people face every day. Renting becoming the more popular choice for many because a rising number of economic factors. The choice between renting and buying a home is a choice that more people have trouble deciding between on a regular basis. It is no longer as simple as wanting a home and purchasing one. More people today make the choice to continue renting a home for several reasons. Lack of financing and want of flexibility and less responsibility for some are major contributing factors to their decision-making process. More people today want the flexibility of being able to move and less responsibility concerning basic household maintenance. Today’s economy plays several contributing roles in the list of pros and cons many list when deciding between renting a home and purchasing one. Renting in today’s economy is by far a more realistic and better decision given its ongoing instability.

One of the biggest factors to support the idea that renting is better than buying in today’s economy is the value of cash. When making the decision to purchase a home rather than rent a home, a decision is made to make a commitment to pay a mortgage that has no guarantee of staying the same unless granted a fixed-rate mortgage, which is not always the case. When the decision is made to rent a home, a rental agreement is often signed that allows the renter for the course of the rental agreement to pay the price that is agreed on.
