Pressure Injury refers to skin injury that is normally caused by some affront pressure,
shear, friction or the combination of the three risk factors (Bereded, Salih, and Abebe, 2018).
Where mostly they are located over the bony parts of the body (Montenegro de Albuquerque et
al., 2018). Over 6% of deaths of patients with PI are caused by complications (Bereded, Salih,
and Abebe, 2018). Hospital-Acquired Pressure Injuries (HAPI's) are a major worry for everyone
involved. The major concern of this capstone project is the prevention of PI attraction by patients
admitted to the medical-surgical unit.
Despite the facility's awareness of the HAPI'S occurrence, the lack of a standardized way
of its evaluation has become a part of the concern for the hospital. Development of the
standardized way takes a lot of time and multiple gatherings of different multidisciplinary
groups. Meanwhile, staff education on the evidence-based practice changes will help prevent the
