2 QUALITATIVE RESEARCH Rough Draft Qualitative Research Critique and Ethical Considerations 1.1 Background of Study 1.1.1 Problem: The two articles focus on the issue of burnout among nurses. They focus on nurses' well-being and how their mental health is affected by burnout and fatigue at their places of work. 1.1.2 Significance of the studies: The study is beneficial in discussing the mental state of nurses at their workplace as a result of burnout and fatigue. The studies suggest different possibilities of change at the nurses' workplace. The reviews will also help decrease mental health problems among the nurses by creating forums for communicating issues that nurses face and representation of the nurses on relevant committees where they can express their needs. 1.1.3 Purpose: The first article aims to find out work-related problems among the nurses, especially work fatigue and burnout. The report also focused on having a dialogue with a group of nurses to identify stress sources at the workplace and recommend to local health service providers to take care of their nurses. The second article aimed to find out how nurses
3 QUALITATIVE RESEARCH experience stress and burnout at their places of work. 1.1.4 Objectives: i. To find out how nurses experience burnout and stress at their places of work. ii. To determine work-related problems, nurses experience while at work, and the effect of nurses' burnout and fatigue. 1.1.5 Research Question: i. What is the relationship between nurses’ performance and their experience from fatigue and stress at their workplaces? ii. What is the association of work-related problems like fatigue nurses experience at work and the nurses’ retention? 1.2 How the Articles Support Nursing Practice The two articles will be used to answer the PICOT question by examining the effect of fatigue and stress on the nurses’ performance and how the same problem affects nurses’ retention. The first article will investigate the nurses’ professionalism and their performance.
4 QUALITATIVE RESEARCH The first article describes the effects of stress and fatigue among the nurses at their place of work. The reports also provide possibilities for changes and also suggest work culture that can be effective in bringing positive changes to the working conditions among the nurses. The articles also support nursing by setting up a dialogue between the nurses and the cause of stress at their workplaces.
