Like many other Directors of HR, Mr. Don Bregande is responsible for recruitment and hiring at the Syracuse University Sheraton Hotel. Mr. Bergande runs ads in local newspapers for open positions at the hotel. Every year, he is responsible for screening over 1200 applications. He has to ensure that he is filling job openings with the right person. Individuals who are interested in applying for a job at the Sheraton Hotel fill out a paper application in the lobby of the hotel. Completed applications are submitted in a drop box and are then taken to Mr. Bergande’s office where he then determines which applicants will be granted an interview. There are certain criteria that Mr. Bergande uses to determine if an individual is capable of filling a position. At the very least, he must decipher is the applicant can fulfill the duties in the job description. Mr. Bergande and the appropriate managers are responsible for conducting interviews. At the time of the interview, Mr. Bergande uses psychological testing to determine a prospective
