2 Forearm A-P Patient is seated or kneeling next to table. Film placed on table with beam centered to film. Patient places forearm on film in the A-P position with palm up. A sponge under hand will improve comfort.

3 Forearm A-P Epicondyles should be parallel to film with hand flat on sponge. Film is centered to forearm to include elbow and wrist joints. Horizontal CR: centered to film. Vertical CR: long axis of forearm

4 Forearm A-P Collimation top to bottom: to include wrist and elbow joints Collimation side to side: soft tissue of forearm Ask patient to hold still and make exposure. Let patient relax.

5 Forearm A-P Film Must include wrist and elbow joints. Patients that have previously fractured wrist may have difficulty getting wrist and elbow in true A-P position. Important to include all soft tissue in view. If wrist injury is primary concern take wrist on extremity film.

7 Forearm Lateral Patient is seated or kneeling next to table. Cassette placed on table. Ask patient to place forearm on film with elbow flexed 90 degrees and wrist in lateral position . Humerus and forearm must be parallel to film. Film centered to forearm.

8 Forearm Lateral Horizontal CR: centered to film Vertical CR: long axis of forearm. Collimation top to bottom: to include soft tissue of posterior elbow to wrist. Collimation side to side: to include soft tissue of wrist and elbow.

9 Forearm Lateral Note that a sponge may be placed under wrist to get forearm parallel to film for patients with significant taper from elbow to wrist. Ask patient to hold still and make exposure. Let patient relax.
