Likelihood of child growing up and finishing future higher-level education institutions. Less likely to require special education. - The “Matthew Effect” o Robert Merton o Spread at the age of 5 is 5000 to 35000 vocabulary words. o As the children advance through higher grades, the spread gets broader , not narrower. o Named Matthew for the Bible o Children with lower vocab count are usually socioeconomically poor. Teacher may be repulsed by lower-class children, and will not give them enough attention.
