Dyadic (need at least 2 players) and reciprocal. o Popularity and Friendship are independent. - Sociometric Measures o Popular – many positive nominations Do very well in academics o Average – some positive nominations Do ok in academics o Rejected – Many negative nominations o Neglected – No nominations Can do well or poorly o Controversial – Some positive nominations, some negative nominations - Popular Sociometric Measure o At first, this group appeared to be all fine o But some were very put-downish and exhibited negative academics. - Parenting Style and Attachment Patterns at 1 to 2 years of age can predict social acceptance patterns at ages of 6 to 12. o Authoritative Secure attachment - Popular/Average Insecure – neglected Nonattached – rejected Social Information Processing Theory
