As your text states, anyone can put anything on the Web. To evaluate the quality of Web sites, we can think in terms of five criteria for evaluating the credibility of websites. As stated in your lecture, they are: Authority Accuracy Objectivity Currency Coverage Why You Can't Cite Wikipedia in My Class?" by Neil L. Waters. Then, go to http://www.wikipedia.org and type in the word, "wikipedia" to learn exactly what Wikipedia is. Keeping in mind our five criteria of authority, accuracy, objectivity, currency and coverage, why do you think that Professor Waters does not allow students to cite Wikipedia for assignments in his class? 1.) Wikipedia has only a slightly higher error rate than Encyclopedia Britannica. Wikipedia is a great tool to get a broad overview of a topic. Students often use the references at the end of a Wikipedia article as a starting point. Wikipedia is convenient, and as long as the reader knows how to evaluate material, it is a good starting place. 2.) Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, which is a tertiary source. College students should
